"XL" Quartet Tuba ZF

Quartet Tuba XL was established in 2002 as the first of such a kind in the region. It consists of mainly professional musicians who play in Croatian orchestras, following modern trends and willing to make those trends popular in Croatia as well. Since tuba is primarily an orchestra instrument, it was our wish to demonstrate that it can equally be adapted to solo and chamber music playing. The ensemble's repertoire varies from classic masters (Palestrina, Bach, Handel...) to jazz and contemporary composers.

The musician of the «XL» Quartet, after graduating from the Academy of Music, have all worked with most prominent professionals of the wind instruments like: R.Bobo, M.Culberston, L.Bazsinka, W.Hilingers, D.Perantoni, etc.... the members of the quartet are: Josip Kapović, Mario Šincek, Viktor Kirčenkov and Krunoslav Babić.

Viktor Kirčenkov (1973)

Musical education was obtained in the Music School "Lisenko" in Poltava, and at the Music Academy "Tchaikovsky" in Kiev, Ukraine, where graduated in the class prof.N.Jurčenka. 1996. he became solo hornist Kijevske Philharmonic. 1998, came to Croatia as I and III. hornist in HNK Rijeka, and then goes into the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra as a solo hornist. Frequently appears as soloist, and is active as a chamber artist, and also regularly collaborates with prominent Croatian hornistom World R. Vlatkovic voice.

Jurica Rukljić (1981)   

High School of Music ended in Varazdin in the class prof.Stjepana Rukljića. 1994. and 1999. to the state competitions winning first prize. Since 1999. enrolled in the University of Music and Drama in Graz, where he graduated in 2004 and 2007. and Mastered. He attended seminars in R. Bobo, J. Baszinke, M. Culbertsona, W. Hilgersa. Active chamber and solo since 2007. permanent member SOHRT.

Mario Šincek (1979)

Musical education was obtained in Varazdin in the class of prof. S. Rukljića. 1996. MA enrolled in a 2000 and graduated in the class of prof. Š.Vulelije. In  study time he cooperated with the Orchestra of Zagreb and Croatia. Since 1998, becoming a permanent  solo trombonist Theater in Zagreb. Since 2003 he was a solo trombonist in Zagreb  Philharmonic Orchestra and assistant to the MA in Zagrebu. Acts active as a soloist and chamber musician.

Krunoslav Babić (1976)

Elementary and secondary musical education was obtained in Osijek. Education has continued on MA in the class of prof. M. Fuchs. He graduated from the MA in Munich in the class of prof. M. Hopperta where he and a Masters in 2004. He worked as a member of SPOHV, SOHRT, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and of the brass quintet. Currently a member of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and it is active and solo. He has received awards for Ivo Vuljevic 2001. year. He is the founder and artistic leader of tuba quartet "XL".
